TIGO LAUNCHES TWO SITES IN IRINGA RURAL VILLAGES

Tigo Tanzania has today simultaneously launched two new sites in Iringa Rural district as part of its network expansion and quality improvement initiative countrywide.
Speaking during the launch Tigo South Zone Director, Jackson Kiswaga, said the new sites at Iguluba and Mkulula have been built in partnership with the government through the Universal Communication Services Access Fund (UCSAF) which is in line with the company’s vision to bring digital lifestyle transformation by enabling more and more Tanzanians to access affordable communication services through its network.
“Tigo is committed to continue investing in its network to ensure that our customers receive high quality services necessary to lead a digital lifestyle. The launch of these two sites is a demonstration that Tigo indeed values its customers in rural and urban areas in equal measure,” Kiswaga said.
The new site are part of 843 sites planned to be built by Tigo countrywide this year of which, 348 or 41% will be in the southern regions of Iringa, Ruvuma, Njombe, Mbeya and Rukwa, according to the zonal director.
Three sites have now been launched by Tigo in Iringa rural district this year, all built in partnership with UCSAF. The first site was inaugurated at Magubike village in March giving Tigo the biggest coverage in the district.
UCSAF is a program which aims to foster social and economic development in rural and urban areas through ICT intervention by ensuring the availability of communication services in rural and urban undeserved areas.
Speaking at today’s launch Lands, Habitat and Human Settlement Development Minister William Lukuvi, who is also the area Member of Parliament, said the new Tigo sites would go a long way in bringing new social economic opportunities to the areas residents
“We believe that if properly utilized, access to communications services will bring major changes to the social and economic status of our people. Services such as fee Facebook in Kiswahili that Tigo offers is a gateway to the world of opportunities out there,” Likuvi said.
