Mkapa leaves for UK

Former President Benjamin William Mkapa in his capacity as the Co-Chair of Investment Climate Facility for Africa (ICF) will be leaving Dar Es Salaam on Sunday 01st of June 2008, for London (United Kingdom).

Former President Mkapa and Mr. Niall FitzGerald (KBE) will Co-Chair the Board of Trustees and the Annual General Meetings from 2nd to 3rd June 2008.

The Investment Climate Facility for Africa (ICF) of which the headquarters is in Dar Es Salaam, seeks to help Africa to create a more attractive business environment and realize its potential as global player and trading partner.

The ICF works toward removing real and perceived obstacles of domestic and foreign investment by assisting Africans to prepare and promote the continent as an investment destination.

Today, ICF has a number of projects in different African countries. One example, two weeks ago the ICF signed an agreement with the Judiciary to expedite and facilitate court process in Tanzania. The priority areas for the ICF support are in (i) Property rights and contract enforcement (ii) Business registration and licensing, (iii) Taxation and customs (iv) Financial Markets (v) Infrastructure Facilitation (vii) Labour Markets, and (viii) Competition.
