A hate preacher hunted over the acid attack on two British girls was
last night under armed guard in hospital.Sheikh Issa Ponda fled after
being injured by a teargas canister fired by police as they tried to nab
him.But officers caught up with the cleric as he sought treatment in
Tanzania’s capital, Dar es Salaam.
Sheikh Ponda is wanted for inciting violence on the island of Zanzibar,
where Katie Gee and Kirstie Trup, both 18, were horrifically attacked
five days ago.He was wounded as he triedto escape officers in Morogoro,
