DK Absalom Mutere amezikwa leo mchana katika makaburi ya huko Musanda, Mumias, Kakamega Kenya. Alifariki ghafla akiwa safarini nchini Zambia ambako alikwenda kwaajili ya masuala yake ya kitaaluma. Dk ay Profesa Mutere ninamkumbuka sana kwa staili yake ya ufundishaji na kwa nondo zake alizotupatia katika Chuo Kikuu cha Mtakatifu Augustino hasa darasa la Masters 2009.
Hakika fani ya mawasiliano ya Umma imepoteza gwiji lake ambaye alikuwa ni mtu asiyekuwa na mikwara na wala kinyongo hata kidogo, kufundisha kwake ilikuwa kama ni maji asipokunywa anakuwa na kiu.

Mutere was educated in the UK, Uganda, Kenya and the USA. He held a BA in Political Science, MA in Journalism (Kent State University, USA), and a PhD from the University of Amsterdam.
He passed away on Tuesday 9 November in Lusaka, aged just 54. He leaves behind a wife, Chalwa Mutere, and two daughters, Ayanda and Julia, from a previous marriage.
He also leaves behind a rugby fraternity that will mourn his departure while celebrating his enormous contribution to the sport.

Loving husband of Chalwa Mutere. Father of Ayanda and Julia Mutere. Son of the late Prof Festo Abby Mutere and Mrs Melcah Ephalinah Mutere. Brother of Matilda Mutere, the late Anna Mutere, the late Jacqueline Mutere, Gillian Mutere and Flora Okuku. Brother-in-law of Greg Pirio and Tony Okuku, and uncle to several.
Body arrived in Nairobi on Wednesday, Nov 17, 2010. Friends, relatives and professional colleagues meet daily at Nairobi Railway Club.
Fundraiser took place on Tuesday, Nov 16, 2010 at same venue at 6pm. Burial on Saturday, Nov 20, 2010 at Musanda, Mumias, Kakamega County.
