In a powerful demonstration of friendship, solidarity and growing diplomatic cooperation, the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, H.E. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, and her distinguished guest, the President of the Republic of Angola, H.E. João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço, embarked on a joint journey aboard Tanzania's modern Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) train from Dar es Salaam to Dodoma.
The two Heads of State departed from Magufuli Railway Station in Dar es Salaam for Dodoma, where they are scheduled to attend the inauguration of the Government City at Mtumba and associated tarmac roads on October 30, 2026.
Beyond its ceremonial significance, the journey symbolises the enduring friendship between Tanzania and Angola, while offering President Lourenço a firsthand experience of Tanzania's remarkable progress in modern transport infrastructure.
The visit also comes at a significant moment in bilateral relations, following renewed commitments to strengthen cooperation in trade, investment and regional connectivity, including plans to link the Dar es Salaam and Lobito transport corridors, connecting the Indian and Atlantic Oceans.
More than a railway journey, this historic occasion reflects a shared vision of stronger diplomatic relations, deeper economic integration and a more connected and prosperous Africa.
